What are Goals & Objectives in eloomi Infinite?

Goals with Objectives are a way to track goals that either you as a company, team, or individual can improve in any way possible.

Goals on Infinite are based on the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) Model. Using this model, eloomi is able to provide a great leadership tool that can help communicate what you as a company, team, or individual want to accomplish within your organization. You can read more about the OKR framework here.

Note: This feature is exclusive to the eloomi One Plan and is not available for Play or Plus users.

How do I enable the Goals & Objectives Feature on my platform?

Goals & Objectives give great transparency across the platform and are embedded in the Conversations module and agenda structure. If you as an organization are still implementing an OKR framework or for other reasons do not wish to use Goals & Objectives, you can choose to disable the feature.

To enable Goals & Objectives, you must navigate to Admin > Settings, once there, you will see an option for Goals at the bottom of the settings in the sidebar. Clicking this will bring up the menu below:

If you click the toggle on, this will enable the Goals & Objectives feature for the entire platform.

How do I access Goals & Objectives?

You can access Goals in two different areas inside the Infinite platform.

  1. For You space

  2. Manager space

If you access the Goals page via the For You space the Goal filter criteria will automatically default to "Your goals". This is because the For You space is, well, your space! So accessing "Your goals" in your "For You space" will display the goals that are specific to you.

However, if you access the Goals via the Manager space, you will see the Goals for the group that you are the Manager of. Additionally, when accessing Goals via the Manager space, you can see all the people in the group you are managing. Clicking any of their names will bring you to their specific set of Goals & Objectives.

Regardless of how you access Goals & Objectives, you can filter and see the different Goals of the company as a whole. You can filter by selecting "Explore all Goals" and then "Filter".

You can then see the options for:

  1. All - view all goals

  2. Company - view goals within the company

  3. Group - view goals within a group/assigned to a group

  4. Individual - view goals assigned to individual people

  5. Direct reports - view goals assigned to specific people you are the manager of (only available for Managers)

  6. Your goals - view goals assigned to you

So, how do you use Goals & Objectives?

Using Goals & Objectives is fairly straightforward. To start, access the Goals page from one of the areas mentioned above.

Once there, you will see the option for "New Objective". Clicking it will bring up this window:

In this area, you must provide the needed information. So you would need to provide:

  1. What is your Objective? - Just a short title/summary of what you would like to achieve.

  2. Description (optional) - Provide a more detailed description of the objective.

  3. Who is the Owner? - Who is the one creating the Objective? (This is locked to the current user unless you are a Manager)

  4. Select an Objective Type

    1. Individual Goals - Goals that benefit the company.

    2. Group Goals (Manager only) - Goals that benefit the Group

    3. Company Goals (Manager only) - Goals that everyone in the company can see and work towards.

    4. Personal Goals - Goals that benefit you as an employee. (These are the only Goals that are hidden and only viewable by the creator and the Manager)

  5. Key Results - These are small milestone steps/tasks that assigned people update as they complete them.

  6. Start and Due date - Provide the Start and Due date for the Objective you would like to complete.

Once you have properly provided the information, click "Create Objective". This will create a new Objective and it will appear as:

Here you can see a few things on the Objective:

  1. Goal Type

  2. Goal Title and/or Description

  3. Clock Icon/Deadline reminder

  4. Status of the Objective - This is manually changed and tracked. This is essentially a way for Managers to keep track of Objectives to see what is on track, behind, or off track.

  5. Completion % for the Objective

  6. The Key Results - The steps within the Key Objectives are manually changed as well. Once a task is completed, or being worked on, you can change the value to anywhere from 0% - 100% completed.

What is Objective Alignment?

Objective Alignment allows Objectives to connect to a "Parent Objective" and contribute to the goal. For example, if the Goal is set to be "Sales Team must make 100 Sales by the end of October", you can use this feature to assign child Objectives to contribute towards the parent Objective. So using this knowledge, you would be able to set up child Objectives such as, "US Sales Team must make 70 sales by end of October" and another one "UK Sales Team must make 30 sales by end of October".

The main Objective is now supported by two child Objectives. Once one of them is completed, the main Objective will be considered 50% completed, as one of the two Objectives has been completed.

Below is a preview of what Child objective settings look like. One must simply add a child objective and opt-in to contribute to the progress of the parent objective.

You can read more about Objective Alignment here.
