What are Certificate Templates?
Create certificate templates to reflect the brand and style of your company or division, or even create individual certification templates for each course, event, or learning plan.
Create a Template
To create a new certificate template, first navigate to Admin > Settings > Certificates.
Here you find a list of existing Certificate Templates and reporting data on:
Name
Name of the Template
Learning Items
Amount of Learning Plans, Courses, and Events that the Certificate Template is linked to
Total Certificates
Total Certificates issued with the Certificate Template
Created By
Who the Template was created by
Going forward, you find a list of your existing certificate templates. Click the “New template” button.
Here, you find the details that are customizable in the Certificate template. You can now:
Give your template a name (mandatory)
Choose the language of the document (define a specific language or "Apply each user's language" that will create certificates with the language of the user's platform)
Select a preset or a custom design (see below)
Choose branding color (preset design only) and text color
Toggle which elements to insert into the certificate; user's job title, date of event (for events certicates), and company/organization name.
Certificate template with the preset design
Using the preset design is the quickest way of creating a Certificate Template.
Here, you can select the color of the ribbon and the text colours, and your default company logo will automatically be added to your document.
Certificate template with custom design
When selecting custom design, you can upload the desired background image of the Certificate Template. You can also set the text colour and text alignment.
With the custom options, you can cater your certifications to your company and learners, and include stamps, signatures etc. to your template background image.
Here is an example of what a Custom Certificate could look like:
Select a Default Certificate Template
You can set a Default Certificate Template in the same menu. Just navigate to Admin > Settings > Certifications > Then click this icon:
Clicking it will bring you to this page:
You can set the Default Certificate Template for Learning Plans, Events, and Courses here.
Once a template is set as the default, it will appear as so in the list of templates:
Note that the default templates show which they are the default for, e.g. Learning Plans, Events, Courses. Scrolling over these tags will show you what they mean.
When a template is set as the default, it will always apply first as the certificate to a learning site, once certificates are enabled on that learning item. You can still change it to a different certificate in the settings menu for that Learning Plan, Event, or Course.
Edit, Delete, or Duplicate Templates
In the Certificate Template page, you are able to manage the Templates with ease. You have a few options when clicking the three dots next to the Template:
Edit
Clicking this will let you edit the Template.
Duplicate
Clicking this will Duplicate the Template.
Delete
Clicking this will Delete the Template.
When deleting a template in use, you get a warning that it will affect existing certifications.
You will also be presented with the option to replace the Templates with a different one upon deletion. Keep in mind that it will replace it on all affected learning items.
